DAY 1 : FROM MARRAKECH TO AIT BENHADDOU TO DADES VALLEY

Our trip will start from Marrakech to head next to Aitbenhaddou. The world UNESCO heritage since 1987 that is a ksar (fortified village) that served as a strategic stop for caravans of camels, often numbering hundreds, on the trans-Saharan trade route from Sudan to Marrakech carrying gold, silver, and slaves and returning with salt. Another kasbah awaits us on our way via Tizin’tchka pass. This kasbah located in Telouet village has been there since the 17th century. Afterwards, we will arrive in Dades Valley. If you are a nature lover, get yourself ready to admire the Dades Gorges and Valleys. A Must visit in Dades.

Overnight and dinner in Dades in a charming riad.

DAY 2 : FROM DADES VALLEY TO TODGHA GORGES TO MERZOUGA

After breakfast, our journey continues to give Todgha Gorges a visit. Most travelers always refer to Todgha Gorges as Colorado with its high plateau. The rivers of Todgha and Dades have sculpted out precipice- sided defiles on their final 25- afar stretch through the mountains, leaving behind this series of reliefs and etches in the gemstone. The Todra is the name of the last 600 measures( just under,000 bases) of the defiles. We stop for a walk there and then take our lunch to the next stop that will be in Tinghir town. WE head afterwards to Erfoud city where the famous hollywood films “The Mummy” and “Prince of Persia” were filmed. It offers impressive views of the palm grooves and remarkable fossil quarries that will let us sense and feel the beginning of the Saharan Oasis of Tafilalt. And as Merzouga has vast dunes, your breath will be taken away by the stunning view these dunes offer, appearing from the horizon. And finally the time for a camel trek has arrived! We will continue our exploration on a camel ride through the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes, the largest sand dunes of Morocco, and head afterwards to our camp where we will have our dinner and spend the night.

In the end of the day, a simple look up to experience the star filled Sahara desert sky, makes it worthy of the long trip it took to be there.

DAY 3 : FROM MERZOUGA TO ERG CHEBBI (MEETING NOMADS)

As usual, we will start our exploration after breakfast. We will be exploring the desert, driving through the high dunes and getting mesmerized by the landscapes the Sahara desert offers until we arrive at Erg Chebbi, the largest sand dunes of Morocco. Afterwards, we won’t miss the chance to visit nomads that are settling in the Sahara and whose tents are in the middle of nowhere. We will get the chance to exchange with them and know their nomadic culture from close. A visit to Khamlia village is also scheduled, also known as Gnawa village where everything remains authentic for centuries thanks to the Tuareg people. When it comes to lunch, we will either have it in the Khamlia village or when we get back to our hotel. We’ll also opt for some camel trekking to enjoy the sunset in the Sahara desert, a real masterpiece.

Overnight and dinner in our camp under the stars.

DAY 4 : FROM MERZOUGA TO ERFOUD TO ZIZ VALLEY TO FEZ

For this last day, we will try to give the Sahara the goodbye it deserves by waking up early in the morning and enjoying the sunrise. We will climb the sand dunes to catch the sun and take memorable pictures. Back to the hotel afterwards for breakfast and getting ready to the long drive that awaits us to head to Fez passing by Erfoud, the Ziz Palm Valley, Midelt, the cedar forests and macaque monkeys of Azrou, and Ifrane that we’ll enjoy gawing at in the road. Then comes Fez where we will drop you off at your hotel/airport and thank you for having this Moroccan experience with us. Alternative journey thanks you for letting it organize your trip to Morocco, such a pleasure.
